About the Role
Job Title: GenAI Engineer
Location: Gurgaon (in Office 5 days)
Experience: 5+ years of industry experience, including a minimum of 2 years building production-grade Gen AI applications.
Overview:
Nykaa is accelerating its Gen AI journey to elevate customer experiences, streamline operations, and spark innovation across the platform. We're scaling with a high-impact, cross-functional team focused on rapid experimentation and enterprise enablement. As a GenAI engineer, you’ll be at the forefront—translating ideas into scalable solutions with bold execution. This role offers a rare opportunity to move fast, build with purpose, and amplify capabilities across the company in close collaboration with product, engineering, and business teams.
Key Responsibilities
Drive end-to-end AI application development—from idea conception to production deployment.
Embrace a boundaryless approach to technology across backend, frontend, automation and data pipelines.
Design and fine-tune LLM prompts, embeddings, and AI agents tailored to domain-specific use cases.
Build solutions that are scalable, secure, cost-efficient, and privacy-conscious.
Implement robust testing to prevent prompt drift, hallucinations, and model regressions.
Maintain high standards in code hygiene, CI/CD practices, and documentation.
Collaborate with analysts and engineers to ensure data quality and pipeline readiness.
Formulate and validate hypotheses by engaging directly with stakeholders.
Champion rapid prototyping—build fast, fail fast, and learn faster.
Apply lean experimentation to test ideas before committing deep resources.
Engage cross-functionally with Product, Design, Business, Security, and Legal to help solve real-world problems.
Contribute to a culture of learning through tech blogs, internal POCs, demos, and workshops.
Stay current with evolving GenAI trends, tools, and advancements, and evaluate new opportunities for integration.
Requirements
5+ years of professional software development experience, with strong expertise in backend systems and scalable architectures.
2+ years of hands-on experience building GenAI applications like AI bots, AI agents using tools like AWS Bedrock, LangChain, RAG pipelines, Agent-based frameworks, vector databases, LLM, Model training, NLP etc.
Proficient in Python and familiar with modern ML/AI libraries and frameworks.
Demonstrated experience in developing LLM-based applications, including prompt engineering, performance tuning, and optimization.
Deep understanding of data privacy, security, and cost-aware system design in AI applications.
Strong understanding of working with both structured and unstructured data, including retrieval and transformation.
Proven ability to work across disciplines—product, design, business, and engineering—in fast-moving environments.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (preferably AWS).
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a bias toward action and learning.
Nice to Have
Contributions to open-source GenAI tools or a strong portfolio of personal AI side projects.
Exposure to frontend technologies and ability to contribute across the stack for end-to-end ownership.
