Role: Senior SDET – (Big Data Quality Engineering + Telecom Domain)
Aboutthe Job:
We are seeking highly motivated and experienced Senior Software Development Engineers in Test (SDET) to join our Engineering Team. This role is pivotal to ensuring data integrity, automation maturity, and production-grade quality of large-scale, distributed data processing pipelines in a telecom context.
The ideal candidate will bring together deep telecom domain knowledge, hands-on experience with cloud-native big data systems, and a strong quality engineering mindset. You will work closely with engineering, DevOps, and analytics teams to deliver robust, scalable, and high-quality analytics solutions that support mission-critical telecom insights across global roaming traffic.
Roles & Responsibility: -
Own and drive test strategy, automation design, and execution plans for big data pipelines across ingestion, transformation, and aggregation layers.
Design and maintain automated data validation suites for batch and near real-time data streams (Spark, Hive, Kafka, etc.).
Build frameworks for schema validation, data quality checks, and pipeline regression testing using scalable test harnesses.
Validate telecom-specific use cases including roaming events, usage analytics, call/session detail records (CDRs/SDRs), and protocol-level correlation.
Collaborate with software engineers and data engineers to improve system testability and observability (including telemetry validation and anomaly detection).
Validate data integrity across S3, S2 object stores, HDFS, Hive metastores, and across data zones (raw, processed, curated).
Integrate test frameworks into CI/CD pipelines, ensuring continuous quality validation on every release.
Work with BI analysts and business users to validate KPIs, metrics definitions, and dashboards.
Engage in root cause analysis of issues found in production, identifying gaps in coverage and enhancing automated checks accordingly.

Soft Skills & Competencies:
Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in distributed systems
Experience working in Agile/Scrum teams and participating in daily stand-ups, sprint planning, and retrospectives
Ability to translate telecom business logic into test scenarios
Excellent verbal and written communication; ability to collaborate cross-functionally with product, DevOps, QA, and support teams
High sense of ownership and initiative; thrives in dynamic, fast-paced environments
Nice-to-Have Skills:
Experience with TestNG, PyTest, or JUnit for building modular test suites
Understanding of data security, GDPR, PII masking, or telecom-specific regulatory compliance
Exposure to OpenTelemetry or Prometheus/Grafana for test observability

Technical skills:
Big Data Technologies:
Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, YARN)
Apache Hive (complex queries, UDFs, partitioning, indexing, performance tuning)
Apache Spark (especially Spark SQL, DataFrames, PySpark preferred)
Kafka (consumption monitoring, event validation) – nice to have
Data Engineering & Quality Engineering:
Strong experience with ETL pipelines, data lineage validation, data reconciliation, and schema evolution
High proficiency in SQL (across engines like Hive, Presto, Trino)
Experience in writing Python or Scala-based validation suites is preferred
Knowledge of data profiling, null checks, duplicates, boundary value analysis in large datasets
Cloud & Object Storage:
Hands-on with at least one cloud: AWS (preferred), Azure, or GCP
Object storage systems: Amazon S3, etc.
Cloud-native testing of data movement and integrity across zones
OpenShift Container Platform (OCP): deployment validation, pod health, Helm chart testing, config maps
OpenShift Data Foundation (ODF): experience validating data availability, replication, object/block storage behavior
Containerization & Orchestration:
Docker: image creation, debugging, and pipeline integration
Kubernetes or OpenShift: pod management, service routing, monitoring, and recovery scenarios
Exposure to tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or OpenTelemetry for telemetry validation
Reporting & Observability:
Familiarity with Tableau, Power BI, Grafana, or similar tools for dashboard validation
Understanding of metric thresholds, alerting logic, and business impact correlation
Telecom Domain (Must-Have):
Hands-on with roaming use cases: inbound/outbound roaming, TAP files, NRTRDE, usage records
Protocol-level familiarity: GTP, DIAMETER, S1AP, SIP, 5G NFs (SMF, AMF, PCF, etc.)
Understanding of OSS/BSS integration points, CDR/SDR flows, and roaming agreement validations
Work Experience:
5+Yrs of experience in Big Data Quality Engineering + Telecom Domain
Educational Qualification:
BE. / B.Tech., M.E./M.Tech. or M. Sc. in Computer Science / Electronics Engineering / MCA
