About the Role
Job Title: Linux Audio Lead
Location: Hyderabad, India
Exp : 7+ years
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the design, development, and integration of ALSA SoC audio drivers, audio DSP firmware interfaces, and audio middleware components.
Work on Linux kernel audio drivers, machine drivers, and integration of audio codecs and amplifiers.
Collaborate closely with hardware, DSP firmware, and multimedia teams to enable seamless audio experiences.
Interface with user-space frameworks such as PulseAudio, PipeWire, GStreamer, or Android Audio HAL.
Optimise audio latency, power consumption, and performance across different use cases (voice, music, VoIP, low-power audio).
Ensure compatibility with industry standards and support certification efforts (e.g., Hi-Res Audio, AOSP compliance).
Lead debugging and analysis of complex issues across the audio stack (DSP ↔ kernel ↔ user space).
Mentor and guide junior engineers in the team, promote best development practices, and perform code reviews.
Drive contributions to open-source communities related to Linux audio, if applicable.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electronics, or related field.
7+ years of experience in Linux audio systems development with strong expertise in ALSA SoC, ASoC layer, and kernel driver architecture.
Hands-on experience with audio codec integration, I2S/TDM interfaces, and DMA engine configuration.
Strong knowledge of audio pipelines, PCM handling, mixer controls, and device tree bindings for audio.
Proficient in C, with good knowledge of Linux kernel internals and debugging tools.
Experience working with audio DSPs and firmware interfaces (e.g., ADSP/Hexagon).
Familiarity with audio testing tools and automation (e.g., Tinycap/Tinyplay, SoX, Audio Precision tools).
