Position Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Data Product Engineering SRE to build, maintain, and ensure the reliability of our business-facing data products and analytics platforms. This role combines product engineering skills with data expertise and site reliability practices to deliver exceptional user experiences through reliable, performant data products. You will work at the intersection of data engineering, product development, and operations to ensure our data products meet user expectations and business requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
Build and maintain business-facing data products including dashboards, analytics APIs, and reporting platforms
Implement data product features that enhance user experience and drive product adoption
Create and maintain data APIs with proper authentication, caching, and performance optimization
Build automated testing frameworks for data product functionality and user workflows
Monitor and maintain SLA compliance for data product availability and performance
Implement comprehensive monitoring for data products including frontend performance and backend data pipeline health
Establish alerting systems for data product issues affecting user experience
Respond to and resolve data product incidents, ensuring minimal customer impact
Conduct root cause analysis and implement preventive measures for data product failures
Operate and maintain data pipelines that feed analytics and reporting features
Implement data validation and quality checks for customer-facing data products
Monitor data product performance from end-user perspective (page load times, query response times)
Implement user analytics and tracking to understand product usage patterns
Participate in user feedback collection and translate insights into technical improvements
Implement monitoring dashboards for data product health and business metrics
Optimize database queries and data processing jobs for interactive analytics workloads
Collaborate with Data Engineering teams to ensure reliable data flow into product features
Partner with Frontend Engineers on data visualization and user interface components
Required Qualifications:
4+ years of experience in product engineering, data engineering, or SRE roles
2+ years building business-facing applications or data products
Experience with data visualization tools and frameworks (Tableau, Looker, or custom solutions)
Proficiency in Python, JavaScript / TypeScript, and SQL
Experience with React, Vue.js, or similar frameworks for building data interfaces
Hands-on experience with analytics databases (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, ClickHouse)
Experience building and maintaining API’s
Working knowledge of AWS, or GCP data and compute services
Experience with application monitoring (DataDog, New Relic) and custom metrics
Understanding of product development lifecycle and user-centered design principles
Experience with product analytics tools (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, Amplitude)
Skills in optimizing application performance for user-facing products
Experience troubleshooting user-reported issues and providing technical solutions
Experience with on-call responsibilities and incident response procedures
Skills in setting up comprehensive monitoring and alerting systems
Strong debugging skills for distributed systems and data pipeline issues
Experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation
Knowledge of automated testing strategies for data products and APIs
Knowledge of data governance and privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA) in product context
Experience with database optimization and query performance tuning
